Firefighters Converging in Southern California Need Seamless Communications
Versatile First Responder Communication Tools are Force Multipliers
DENVER, Colo., Jan 13, 2025 (247marketnews.com)- As firefighters from around the world converge on Southern California, effective communication, across multiple agencies, becomes a top priority.
Mobile broadband improved overall operational efficiency and transformed how emergency services communicate, to better coordinate their efforts.
Siyata Mobile (NASDAQ: SYTA) is a developer and vendor of rugged Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) handsets and accessories. Siyata’s PTT tools enable first responders and enterprise workers to instantly communicate over a nationwide cellular network of choice. Siyata has legacy of disrupting the outdated Land Mobile Radio (LMR) industry with its PoC offerings.
Carrier Involvement: Reliability in Connectivity
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) warned against relying on voice-only radio networks and numerous departments are making the switch. LMRs do not allow for key communication tools, like data and video, and are not seamless between many agencies.
The result was the first major public safety ecosystem move, in generations, developing dedicated first responder networks.
The First Responder Network Authority was established, after Congress allocated 20MHz of radio spectrum to create the public safety network.
AT&T won that auction and rolled out FirstNet, in 2017.
Even before that, mobile broadband was becoming a public safety operations force multiplier. The new tools and mission-critical services, like real-time video streaming, high-speed data transfer, and improved communications, helps ensure that the first responders are where they are needed, when they are needed.
Siyata’s devices gain an additional layer of reliability and potential market penetration from its distribution network, which includes established relationships with AT&T (NYSE: T), FirstNet, T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS), Verizon (NYSE: VZ), Bell and US Cellular. Siyata is also building out its global channel strategy, via relationships with carriers like KPN Royal Dutch Telecom.
A Fast-Growing Market
“And then there are the high numbers of first-responders that need to be migrated. There are upwards of 60,000 public safety agencies in the USA and more than 10,000 LMR networks. Rough figures estimate there are between 750,000 and 850,000 sworn police officers, 826,000 licensed and credentialed Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals and around 1,216,600 career and volunteer firefighters.” Critical Communications Today.
From law enforcement to firefighters and EMS paramedics to search teams, first responders come in many forms and their ranks are growing. No matter the uniform or the crisis, effective distribution of key data to the first responder teams can mean the difference between success or calamity, for the public they serve.
Natural disasters and other devastating events accentuate the urgency for advanced, secure technologies that can aid first responders in the field. Research and Markets projects that “In an age of rapid digital transformation and heightened demand for secure, real-time communications, the Global Public Safety LTE Market is experiencing remarkable growth. Starting at a value of US$7.5 Billion in 2022, this vital industry is poised to surge to a value of US$28.8 Billion by 2030.”
A sizable chunk of that growth landscape will be dominated by increased demand for state-of-the-art first responder technologies. Siyata’s SD7+ is designed to deliver crucial first responder solutions, like its integrated push-to-talk and body camera functionalities. The SD7+ operates on an encrypted network, allowing secure and reliable data and voice communications during emergency operations.
The Competitive Landscape
The rapid growth is due, in part, to emergency agencies developing partnerships with the first responder networks. FirstNet, Frontline, and Connecting Heroes created attractive first responder initiatives and several layers of that onion are now onboarding.
Fierce Wireless reported, August 2022, that Verizon had 5.1 million connected devices and more than 30,000 public safety agency customers, while AT&T’s FirstNet network had 3.7 million connections serving more than 21,800 public safety agencies and was adding about 300,000 FirstNet customers every quarter. As stand along operations, each first responder outfit would easy be one of the top seven largest cellular carriers.
AT&T’s FirstNet offers priority and preemption capabilities, and has a more than 2.91 million square mile footprint. First responders, using devices like the SD7+, are always first in line to access the network, even in times of heavy traffic, and almost no matter where they are in the USA.
Verizon already had a large first responder business, but in 2021 it developed Frontline. Frontline is a segregated, private network that isolates public safety data traffic from commercial and consumer data traffic. Frontline’s custom safety plans for first responders include priority and preemption, regardless of data usage. The faster and more reliable communications for emergency response units will benefit devices like the SD7+.
T-Mobile is committing $7.7B over the next 10 years to its Connecting Heroes over the next 10 years. Their offers include free service plans and special device discounts for first responders, which would make devices like the SD7+ more accessible to smaller municipalities or volunteer organizations.
The ever-growing need for mission critical communications set a solid base for continued public safety broadband expansion and potential drivers include the growing frequency of extreme weather events, fire risk, expansion of population with chronic diseases, aging population, and increasing geopolitical unrest will only grow already healthy defense spending.
Student safety and school districts is another space that’s looking for innovative solutions to protect their students and staff. In fact, Siyata already received purchase orders from multiple U.S. public school districts for its mission-critical PoC handsets and accessories.
SD7+

The durable SD7+ handset combines PTT and video streaming solutions.
The SD7+ is specifically designed to help first responders maintain a reliable signal near tall structures, inside buildings and elevators. Its stronger signal reception can help in obscure terrain, adverse weather conditions, and extended distance from the nearest cell tower.
The SD7+ is compatible with Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) Azure-based Command Center software. This exemplifies how cloud-based platforms can be harmonized with hardware to offer a comprehensive emergency response solution.
The SD7+ handset is designed to solve real-world public safety challenges at the price point that also beats its competitors.
